Payment Methods

We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover American Express, checks, and money orders in US currency. Sorry, No COD’s.

Checks are accepted for the amount of purchase only. Checks must also have your name and address printed on the check. Returned checks will be charged a processing fee.

Discounts

We are proud to offer a 10% discount to all active duty and retired military, veterans, NMRA members, model railroad club members, and first responders.

Please let us know if you are eligible for this discount. Not all items can be discounted and some exceptions may apply.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are available for purchase. In accordance with California state law, gift certificates have no expiration date.

Hold Policy

Models may be held for a customer at the manager’s discretion.

Returns

  • Returns or exchanges are accepted within thirty (30) days or as noted below.
  • No returns without the sales receipt.
  • The items must be new and unopened in their original packaging.
  • No returns on software, books, magazines, or videos.
  • Items that were on consignment may be returned within fourteen (14) days of purchase.
  • Returns on “As-Is” items are subject to manager approval.
  • Items that were shipped to the buyer will be accepted for return within thirty (30) days. The buyer will pay for the return postage, and the original postage will not be refunded. Please call for approval before returning the item.

Special Orders

Special orders are welcome, and we generally do not require payment in advance. Items not wanted for any reason (except if unavailable) will be recharged with a 20% restock / cancellation fee.

Layaways

Items may be placed on layaway with one-third (1/3) of the purchase price down and the remainder is due within three (3) months. Layaway items not picked up at the end of the three (3) month period may be returned to stock and any payments already made will not be refunded.

Consignments

We do accept items for consignment, subject to the manager’s approval. Once the item has sold, the consignee will receive 50% (or as agreed) of the purchase price by check within fifteen (15) to thirty (30) days after the sale.

Market Value Quotations and Insurance Appraisals

Value quotations via telephone or fax are at best a “ballpark” estimate. Accurate pricing or appraisal can only be established once Reed’s Hobby Shop has the items on hand.

There will be a charge to appraise any merchandise that is not placed on consignment or purchased by the shop.
