Vintage Coal Dealer -- Kit

The prototypes for coal and oil dealers like the Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Vintage Coal Dealer were well known to everyone in town. Shoehorned alongside mainlines and sidings, these businesses sold coal for home heating by the bagful or the ton and delivered to your house. Commercial accounts like small factories and stores were also serviced. As oil furnaces became common, many dealers expanded their line to include home heating oil too.

Whether in a big city scene or a quiet country town, this kit looks great next to the tracks of your HO Scale railroad. And like the prototypes, the buildings are easily arranged to fit in odd-shaped spaces. Typical of facilities commonly seen in the US from the 1920s to the 1960s, this Vintage Coal Dealer can be built as a free-standing business. This is a great location for spotting those hoppers and tank cars. The Vintage Coal Dealer kit includes:

• Concrete coal bunker with between-the-rails unloading grate

• Vertical steel fuel tanks with pump house
• Detailed trestle with supports, abutment, railing and walkway with optional bulkheads to build below-track storage bins
• Molded approach ramp for coal trestle. Flex-track (not included) suggested for coal trestle rail
